Below and on the next page, is a series of eight photographs taken of lightning striking the top of the Empire State Building, New York City, NY, summer of 1934. The photographer is John P. Gaty and the pictures are courtesy of the Dupont Corporation.

These pictures were taken during the same timeframe and the detail is amazing, especially when one considers it was 1934!

Lightning Burst!
This photo was taken when the photographer was about 14. He was hanging out a

second floor window in order to get an unobstructed view of the sky.

After capturing this image, all he could do was utter WOWOWOW!!!!
